Instagram Photography - How to Take Good Photos with your Mobile

Written by Zohra C

Instagram has become part and parcel of our lives and the need to document everything for the ‘gram is imperative. From being a basic app to share moments of our lives, it has now evolved to sharing videos, reels, and, of course, pictures. Instagram is a handy tool for individuals like you and me to connect with people who matter the most. We’ve come up with some tips and hits to help get that perfect ‘gram-worthy photo.

Getting the best angle

A normal picture can be transformed remarkably by paying close attention to the angle. The correct angle of the subject and background will attract your followers. If you were to take a picture of the Empire State Building, positioning the camera at ground level pointing upwards towards the sky will capture the entire building. Also, move around to improve composition. You’ll see the difference if you move away or get closer.

Adjust the focus

It can be truly difficult to take a snapshot of a subject that isn’t still. But there is a solution to this problem. Tap what you are taking a picture of in the frame, before clicking the picture. A small square or a circle appears and brings the subject into focus, this is the right time to snap that perfect photo, and bring photo into focus.

Good Lighting

Good lighting can take any picture to the next level. You can spot the immense difference just by changing the direction of the object facing the light instead of blocking the light. The angle, the direction, and the time of the day the picture is snapped are significant. One useful photography tip is to make use of the ‘Golden Hour’ to click mesmerizing pictures. The light is visibly softer and enhances the picture exponentially.

Filters

Instagram introduced the world with filters for every mood, occasion, and feeling. Filters are used once the picture is taken to enhance aspects of the pictures and cover imperfections. It’s recommended to avoid overusing them, so as to not come off as distorted. The use of filters should be limited to augment the features of the picture alone.

Invest in a Good Equipment

Taking a good picture can make a big difference if you have equipment on hand. Having a clip-on ring light or a mini tripod can help turn a good picture into a great one. A tripod also helps take pictures or videos that need a longer time to create. For example, taking a timelapse video is a breeze with the help of a tripod.
