Written By Zohra C
Hiring a wedding photographer is one of the most important items on your wedding to-do list. After the wedding festivities are over and everyone is back to their daily routine, only the memories will remain of those unfortgetable wedding moments. To be able to look back at the pictures is the most beautiful gift you can give to yourself, and something can be cherished forever.
So we’ve come up with some do’s and don't to help you fire the perfect photographer for your wedding.
1. Pick A Photographer That Suits Your Style
Select the most suitable photographer for your wedding by viewing their portfolio online. This is will let you see what they have done in the past. Also, you can ask them for albums of wedding they have done in the past. Take a look at everything, the good, the bad, and yes even the ugly to find your perfect aesthetic match.
2. Book Sooner Rather Than Later
Save yourself the stress of booking a photographer last minute. Like most things with a wedding, it’s always best to book sooner rathern than later. Being proactive going to have a big payoff in the long run.
3. Have a Contract
Signing a contract should be an absolutely necessary for both parties. If the worst should happen, a contract allows everything and everyone to be accounted for and in one place. Moreover, a contract that binds the photographer to provide services in a timely fashion acts as a security blanket.
4. Set Up A Meeting and Familiarize Them With The Venue
Allowing your photography and their team to see the venue before the wedding will help calm the nerves for yourself and the photographer. It will definitely help them to understand your vision and any expectations you have of them, and allow the team to communicate any hurdles they may see before the day.
5. Don’t Micromanage
Making sure everything is perfect for your wedding day, is hard to manage. Before you start planning ask yourself these questions:
Are you wanting your own unique moments captured or a wedding that looks like somebody else’s dream wedding?
What if it doesn’t stay true to how you feel your wedding should have been like?
So, it is very important to understand that moments cannot be created. Trust the photographer and let loose.
6. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate
Share your vision and expectations with the photography team. It will save alot of time and alot of back and forth if communication is clear from the beginning. Let the team know what you want and wait for them to weave their magic.
7. Discuss Photos And Video Rights
When you are discussing payment, and time, remember to also discuss the rights of the pictures before confirming anything with your chosen photographer. Some photographers work differently and charge only for covering the event, you might have to purchase selective pictures and videos after looking at the entire wedding album. It is a shame if you have to pay more out of pocket just to get your hands on the pictures.
When you look at those wedding pictures after the wedding and the years after the photos and videos are going to a memory of how you both felt at that particular moment.
